Wow! Very impressed with Detroit City Sweep. I purchased a Living Social voucher for their services so I was skeptical and it was my first chimney inspection and cleaning. Steve and another man came to my home and were very polite, honest and helpful. They were very conscious of keeping their surroundings clean and did a wonderful job. I even received a follow up call the next day making sure everything was satisfactory. They are forevermore my go-to company.

I was very frustrated regarding a backup smell from our fireplace when there wasn't a fire. I dealt with another company and they did some work, but the problem wasn't solved. I tried Detroit City Sweep.

The two men who came to our house were professional and took time diagnosing the problem. After they did a stage 1 deglazing and cleaning, they even scheduled a return date(free of charge) to check on the results. When they came back a second time they did even more to remove the little creosol that was left.

As of this writing, the problem is solved. I highly recommend this company for any chimney or fireplace work. Their professionalism is outstanding.

I first used Detroit City Sweep for a chimney sweep and inspection through Angie's List. They were on time very professional and respectful of my home by putting on protective shoe covers and using a covering for my floor. They also explained to me in detail recommendations for maintaining my chimney and properly burning fires and gave me the appropriate brochures. I was so impressed by their professionalism that I asked for a quote for tuck pointing and the replacement of my concrete steps on the front porch. The quote was very fair and reasonable. Once again they were very professional and completed the work to my satisfaction. They even called to make sure that I was satisfied with their work before accepting my payment. I also purchased a chimney cap from Detroit City Sweep for my chimney. I was so happy that I recommended them to my friend who is going to use them to tuck point her home and replace her steps. I don't normally leave reviews, but I feel like this company deserves it. I was very nervous about getting our chimney inspected and cleaned. We just moved into our home and have never had a wood burning fireplace before. I was concerned that a company would take advantage of our lack of knowledge and quote us for repairs that were not needed. They did a very detailed inspection explaining everything to us. Turns out our chimney is in good shape and they also gave us a lot of great info on how to properly use it to keep it in good condition. He even measured the opening for me when I started talking about replacing the fireplace doors to make sure that I had the correct numbers. They didn't try to sell us outlandish repairs and were very careful to keep our home clean. Lastly, it was very reasonably priced compared to other quotes I received. I even found a coupon online

I am very satisfied with the chimney cleaning and 26 point inspection service I received a week ago. Unfortunately, due to the height of my house and the cement tile roof, the young many was not able to perform all 26 points of the inspection but did everything he could. He gave advice on maintenance and referred me to a more experienced person at the company for repairs. I had a good experience with this company for cleaning / inspecting my chimney. Brittany was great to work with on the phone. She was able to find a time that fit around my schedule. The technician that came out, Chris, arrived on time and was very professional. After cleaning and inspecting the chimney, he took time to answer all of my questions. When he provided estimates for repairs, he was not pushy - this is a big selling point to me as I've run into too many contractors that seem eager to put you on the spot to sign up for additional work. I was pleased to find that they do all types of brickwork as well (a quality mason willing to do residential work is nearly impossible).

He put on booties before he stepped into the house. He also brought a drop cloth to use as he inspected the fireplace. Detroit City Sweep came to my house for a chimney sweep and inspection in November 2019 and did a fantastic job with the sweep and clean up. They left me with a list of about 4 repairs that needed to be done. Me being a first time homeowner, I was surprised to find out that the previous owner hadn't ever maintained their fireplace/chimney since they'd lived here for 30+ years. Steven came back out recently in July 2020 and completed the repairs he'd left for me back in November and kept his word to his original price quotes on those repairs. He was in and out in about an hour or so and again, left everything super clean and took his time to explain how to work the new parts he'd installed. Detroit City Sweep LLC helped solve a problem that was plaguing us for years. Our walls were falling apart due to our chimney. So, we scheduled an appointment with the lady over the phone, (who was very nice and patient ). They came, inspected, and gave us a good price to help our chimney. I had a massive squirrel problem and I also needed work done a my chimney; I called at least 7 animal removal as well as chimney sweep businesses and NONE OF THEM would help me, they kept throwing the problem back at each other until I called Detroit City Sweep. These guys are the best. Our inspector recommended them when we were buying our home. Dean came out and gave us a quote to rebuild the chimney just past the roofline before closing. The seller of the house agreed to pay for the rebuild but wanted to use their own contractors. The seller's contractors did a poor/incomplete job and Dean looked at it and was able to clearly lay out what was missing and what needed to be done. He explained it all to us and even provided us with videos to present to the seller and agents. This helped us get the money we were owed from the seller to have Dean redo the job. I want to give my honest opinion of the service I received. I had a gas fireplace and I wanted to remove it because the heat was just going through the chimney. I call DetroitChimney sweep and spoke with and spoke with Steve, he suggested I convert it to a vent free to which I agree and I could be happier. He came out installed it and it works beautifully. However the following week the pilot went out and I didnt know how to round it back on . I call Steve on a Saturday mind you and he said no problem I will be out in about a hour and sure enough he was there. This happen again the next week thru no fault of the fire place and I had to call him again and I got the same kind and professional response. I am so proud to write this review because this is a black owned business and I want everyone to know about them. If you need any work done give them a call they will treat you right and get it done. Oh and dont be asking for no discount they gotta eat too!

I paid and they immediately emailed me the report. The report even had a very reasonable quote for cleaning it if the buyer would wish to do so. This is called Sugestive Selling and is Business School 101. The transaction was completed in less than 48 hours. And that ladies and gentlemen is how you run a business if you want to attract and keep customers. For business owners I think that this perfectly illustrates that your caliber of employees CLEARLY matter.

They were able to fit us in at a short time due to inspection date unlike 1-3 month wait as other companies. The work that they did was fantastic! Doing cement and brick and mortar when I was younger I know good work from bad or sloppy work. But these guys are top notch! I will definitely use them for my next job!

They were very professional and had dimiliar options as our other provider, they were a bit pricey so we did not accept their estimate, price was the only real difference and they would not bust out the old tile and they use a smaller flue pipe. We hired them to do a paid chimney inspection after another company (who cleaned our fireplace), told us that we needed $3200 worth of repairs (and that our house was in danger of burning down if we used the fireplace). Detroit City Sweep did a 20+ inspection and give us a written report that our Wood Burning Fireplae was in good working condition, but needed about $500 worth of repairs on the chimney (Tuckpoint and Crown Rebuild). Detroit City Sweep was great. The customer service person was friendly and accommodating of my schedule. They gave me a 3 hour window and showed up during that time. I got a call 30 minutes before they were going to come out so I didn't have to stay home the whole time.

The technician (Tekio) was very polite, friendly, efficient. He cleaned up after himself which gives him a 5 star rating even without the cleaning :) Tekio provided some really good insight to improve our fire place and provided options and the cost for each.

He was friendly he was informative and put Safety First. I'm a pretty good handyman but I didn't know that there would be an advantage to caulking The Chimney Cap before it was put on. Apparently the caulk helps prevent the Chimney Cap from being blown off in a strong storm. I would definitely recommend them to anybody who needs chimney service.

Steve came out to my home and repaired my electric fireplace. He was very cordial and efficient. I wasn't able to use my fireplace for years until Steve came out to change the bulbs. He is an excellent employee with a wonderful personality! Steve is definitely an "expert" at what he does.

I am very satisfied with the chimney cleaning and 26 point inspection service I received a week ago. Unfortunately, due to the height of my house and the cement tile roof, the young many was not able to perform all 26 points of the inspection but did everything he could. He gave advice on maintenance and referred me to a more experienced person at the company for repairs.
